For many years, cyber attackers have been effectively collaborating with one another in the Darknet. The Darknet has many communities full of bad guys dedicated to sharing tools and tactics meant to bypass cyber-defenses. They do so, because they understand that as a group they are more effective in deceiving and tricking cyber defenders like ourselves.
At TrapX Security, we believe that it’s time for the good guys to do the same thing.
There’s a famous quote that goes “Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean.”
Think about it for a second, how will the world of cyber-security look when teams of hundreds of cyber defenders share cyber-deception strategies meant to deceive, detect and defeat cyber attackers?
That’s why, alongside with our latest product release, we just launched the DeceptionNet Community, the first community built to fight back against cyber-attackers using deception. This community is only open to verified cyber-defenders using the TrapX DeceptionGrid solution. You can learn more about becoming a verified user here.
That’s the first major thing that we’ve prepared for you but we’re just getting started.
Build Your Own Trap (BYOT)
In today’s threat landscape, there are thousands of different ways for attackers to penetrate your network. We recently read that a casino was hacked from the thermostat on the fish tank. That’s absolutely crazy – but it happened!
What if you can set traps camouflaged as IoT devices (like your office’s fish tank)?
Now, we empower you to emulate any device with our new feature called “Build Your Own Trap”.
You can now create fake attack surfaces that are tailor-made to be identical to your native environment. Cyber-attackers can never tell what’s real and what’s fake because each trap is designed to look and behave exactly like your real assets.
So, if you want to protect something that isn’t conventional to catch the hackers off guard, now you can!
Dynamic Deception
Let’s take this one step further.
When an attacker or malware tries to attack your network/cloud they will fall into a trap and get busted. What if they somehow try to attack again, but this time, they try to avoid that trap.
We won’t let that happen.
We released another new feature called “Dynamic Deception” – a moving minefield of continuously shifting traps that no attacker can avoid.
Additionally, after an attacker or malware finishes attacking a trap, the trap will change its shape and location, so the attacker will never be able to determine the difference between a real asset and a trap. Moving minefields cause absolute horror for cyber-attackers.
What’s next?
We’re always having you, our customers in mind when we release kick-ass features & updates to our powerful, award winning deception solution. If there are other cool features that you think are helpful or if you know of other creative ways to fight the bad guys, please let us know.
You are already with us in the community that fights back!
