Several years ago, cybercrime was committed primarily by individuals or small groups. But today, highly complex networks are bringing together cybercriminals from across the globe to commit the types of crimes that have never been seen before. These attackers find new technology to be both extremely challenging, and financially rewarding when they’re able to ‘break through’. Some of them also have the backing of nation states with unlimited resources to sustain an attack.
Targeted persistent attacks often occur seeking highly valued intellectual property such as customer data and financial information. Cyber attackers are also seeking confidential information on intellectual property, new tech developments, personnel, operations, acquisitions, programs and finances.
Technology cyber security teams are of course in a better position to understand the problem, and often have a high level of technology sophistication. They understand that current cyber defense suites are insufficient to meet the current threat, and they are always searching out the latest and best security options.
